<< What are the places like Langkawi near kuala lumpur ? The St. Regis Brand Unveils Its Newest Ski Destination with the Debut of The ... - Welt Online >>I want to know how much is a taxi driver earned in Kuala Lumpur , on a normal day .
usually taxi drivers don’t own their own vehicle,
- RM40-RM50 daily rent for the taxi
- petrol (depends outstation or just locally)
- meter user or not
- license/permit etc.
Most taxi drivers work 8-12hours daily. So they estimate min. RM20-30 per hour from 7am-11.50pm.

Anything within 12midnight till 7am, they expect double or triple pay.
If outstation esp. to KLIA or Cyberjaya min. RM50-100 per trip.
So on average earn about RM200-300 for 8-12hours of work daily. And after minus all expenses and etc. about RM100. tht’s in KL & PJ.
While in other towns, those not using meter there’s way higher.

If he is hardworking, driving 12 hours a day, he should be able to earn RM300 a day. However, most of the taxi drivers do not own the vehicle and have to pay rental, petrol, maintenance etc.

Based on every 21 seconds (stationary, ie waiting at red light) calculated as 10 sen, 1 minute they already get approximate 30 sen. That means every 1 minutes 3 seconds, they earn 30 sen. 10 minutes 30 seconds, RM3. If round up to just 1 minute to make for easier calculation, if 10 minutes earn RM3, 1 hour RM18 on top of the RM3 when you get in and RM2 extra charge if taxi call service.
If work 8 hours per day only RM168 – minus expenses give or take RM100.
Assuming daily pay is RM100, they work 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So each week they are making around RM700 clean profit.
I dont think taxi drivers pay tax, epf or socso at all because all they need to do is complain3 and government will just close one eye.
Compare that to IT staff in KL earning RM3500 per month which after tax, epf, socso wont amount alot. Assuming after deductions, take home pay is RM2900 dvide by 22 working days, each day salary just RM132. Just RM32 more than taxi drivers daily earning. But you have to remember, if taxi drivers work more than 8 hours, they can earn more than RM132..
So next time you feel generous and want to give tips to cabbies, think that they’re earning more than you.
Next time you wanna purchase a bag or a watch that cost RM1200, think how many hours you have worked your ass off for that item. So is it really worth it?
Even RapidKl bus drivers get to earn up to RM2200 per month inclusive OT.

Rental RM50 max (usually lower) per day.
NGV for most Klang Valley taxi. Daily gas rate usage is just RM10-20 whole day.
Not inclusive of ‘auto-tip’ – the situation where the fare shows RM12.50 but no 50 sen is given back to you and they giving alot of excuses.
Not inclusive of given tip for good service
Not inclusive of potong tip – where they adjusted the meter with the touch of the button according to their whim and fancy (making you pay RM3-8 extra)

I know a taxi driver who lives close by. Always gets 1 trip to KLIA a day. RM80/trip for 2hrs up and down ride. Costs only rm6 for toll 2-ways since taxi pay 50% lesser toll and RM6 worth of NGV gets about 100km. Thats only RM10 of gas. RM64 profit for 2hrs. After the airport trip he ques at places like sunway pyramid, shah alam pkns, midvalley, klcc. On the average he earns RM120 clean a day after minus car costs. He takes off 1 day a week. Thats roughly RM3000 nett. Not bad considering you are your own boss. Except the fact people often look down at taxi drivers.
